I first met Monique when I moved into an apartment below hers. I think she was introduced to me as “the best neighbor ever”. In the years I lived on N Winooski she was nothing short of a wonderful person, someone I felt safe around, someone who knew the spiritual value of partying and community. One time a friend of mine drunkenly passed out on her couch mistaking her apartment for mine. In the morning he texted me he was upstairs. When I went up the get him Mo had make him coffee and just smiled and laughed with me about it. A true legend.

Over the years since I moved away from Burlington Monique and I have stayed in touch on social media. We had found ourselves deeply compassionate about a lot of shared values. Heart broken over similar tragedies and both invested in being fans of each other even from afar. Supporting each other as women. Some type of sisterhood connection.
Monique was a great person. I really thought there would be so much more time. More time to get to know her better, to share memories of the crazy nights and days at 6 1/2 N Winooski…

Monique, you were and are deeply loved. You were highly respected.
Thank you for being a power house woman, both tough as nails and so soft in your heart. I always looked up to you.

To everyone who knew and loved her, I am so sorry for this loss. I hope through grieving together and apart we can let her spirit into ourselves and know that truly while she is gone she will never be forgotten.
